ASUU Responds To Court Order To Call Off Strike

The University Teachers’ Union (ASUU) said that it has already started joining its lawyers to appeal against the Court’s decision that asked her to return to work.
The Lagos zonal president of ASUU appealed to the university teachers to calm down and keep fighting till the end.
ASUU Lagos State Zonal Chairman, Adelaja Odukoya, in a statement issued after the Court’s decision, appealed to members of the union to calm down and put on their belts until the end.
According to Vanguard, the National President of ASUU, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, was quoted in the statement as asking the angry lecturers to calm down, there is nothing to worry about the order to return to work.
“Our members should be ready to unite. All the people themselves are united and no one can win against them.” said Osodoke.
The students described the court’s order as a deception, saying that the government failed to fulfill its responsibility.
In the understanding of the students, the court has no authority to call the teachers to return to work when it failed to order the government to pay the teachers their rights.
