Ademola Adeleke Winner of the Osun State governorship election PDP..

The Independent Electoral Commission of Nigeria (INEC) has declared Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP as the winner of the Osun State governorship election.

The governorship election was held on Saturday with strict security measures.

The Chief Electoral Officer of the State, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, said Senator Adeleke got 403,371 votes.

Incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC came second with 375,027 votes.

The data released by INEC for the 30 local governments in the state show that PDP won 17 local governments while APC won 13 local governments.

Right before, Governor Oyetola, who wanted to run for the second term, defeated Senator Adeleke.

BBC correspondents in Osun State reported that the results of the elections from the local government level of the state were received from Sunday night to dawn.
